  • Behavior:  A standard summer camp behavior policy 2026 focuses on maintaining safety and respect through clear expectations, tiered disciplinary steps, and proactive management strategies.

1. Core Behavior Expectations

Campers are expected to adhere to the following principles:

  • Safety: Follow all staff directions immediately and stay within designated camp boundaries.
  • Respect: Treat fellow campers, staff, and property with kindness. This includes avoiding bullying, foul language, and physical aggression.
  • Responsibility: Take care of personal belongings and camp equipment.
  • Participation: Engage in scheduled activities and maintain a positive attitude toward new experiences.

2. Disciplinary Procedures

Most camps follow a progressive disciplinary model to address issues before they escalate:

  1. First Offense: Verbal warning and redirection to a positive activity.
  2. Second Offense: Supervised “cool-down” time and a formal discussion between the camper and a supervisor.
  3. Third Offense: Parent notification and potentially a behavior contract. The camper may be sent home for the day.
  4. Fourth Offense/Persistent Issues: Suspension or permanent dismissal from the camp program.

3. Grounds for Immediate Dismissal

Certain high-risk behaviors often carry a zero-tolerance policy and may result in immediate removal without prior warnings:

  • Physical Violence: Intentional hitting, biting, or fighting.
  • Safety Risks: Possessing weapons, illegal substances, or tobacco/vaping products.
  • Serious Misconduct: Theft, severe vandalism, or sexual misconduct.
  • Endangerment: Leaving camp grounds without permission or supervisor escort.

4. Prohibited Staff Discipline

  • Corporal Punishment: No hitting, shaking, or physical restraint.
  • Deprivation: Staff may never withhold food, water, or restroom access.
  • Psychological Harm: No shaming, ridiculing, or humiliating a child.

5. Management Strategies for 2026

  • Positive Reinforcement: Staff are trained to praise desired behaviors rather than only correcting mistakes.
  • Natural Consequences: Using outcomes that naturally follow an action (e.g., if you splash water, help dry the floor, spill your lunch, clean up your mess)
  • Communication: 2026 policies emphasize a tripartite partnership between campers, staff, and parents to ensure consistency between camp and home expectations.
  • Minifig Adventures is a privately owned and operated company and reserves the right to terminate a camp contract for any reason at any time for camper misconduct or safety.
  • Licensed Day Care Facility: Minifig Adventures is not a licensed day care facility and does not hold a state license. A registered nurse is not onsite at camp. Any daily medications will be administered by the Camp Director per labeled prescription bottle directions. Medical Emergencies will be directed to 911 and Children’s Health Center of Plano with immediate contact to the Parent or Guardian.
